Jessica L. Stroupe

Owner/Veterinarian

Dr. Stroupe is a Fayette native that graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2012. She started at our practice as an Associate Veterinarian in June 2012 and became Practice Owner in January 2016. She was a 2005 Fayette High School grad, and she completed her pre-veterinary studies at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL, where she ran Cross Country and Track for the UWF Argonauts.

Dr. Stroupe is an active member of many veterinary organizations, including being Past President of the Missouri Academy of Veterinary Practitioners, Past President of West Central Veterinary Medical Association, Executive Board Member of Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, and an active member of the Women’s Veterinary Leadership Initiative. She has also served as a 4-H volunteer and was a co-instructor of the 4-H Veterinary Sciences course, former President of the Fayette Ag Advisory Board, former Secretary of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce, and former board member of the Fayette Area Community Theater. She was also the recipient of the Ortu Stella Award for the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association as well as recipient for the Women Who Own It Entrepreneur of the Year for Howard County.

Dr. Stroupe lives on a farm outside of Armstrong with her husband and her three sons, Leland, Everett, and Ronan. They also have two cats and two dogs, Cuddles, Leo, Harley, and Howie. She enjoys running, weightlifting, spending time with her family, traveling, and writing vet poetry for veterinary publications. She ran the Boston Marathon in 2014, but now mostly chases her boys around.

Benjamin C. Potter

Veterinarian

Dr. Potter was born and raised on a family farm in Clarksburg, Missouri. The farm consists of row crops, a cow/calf operation, and contract turkey production for Cargill Meat Solutions. His agricultural background led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine where he graduated from the University of Missouri- Columbia in 2016. He had an active leadership role in many student veterinary organizations in vet school including President of the Mizzou Chapter of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners. Dr. Potter became an Associate Veterinarian at our practice in June 2016. His professional interests include bovine reproduction and herd management solutions.

Dr. Potter resides on his farm outside of Fayette with his wife and two children. Dr. Potter enjoys both deer and turkey hunting and spending time on the family farm in Clarksburg.

Jason Paine

Veterinarian

Dr. Jason Paine was raised in Hutchinson, Kansas on a small livestock operation. He began developing a show goat and small commercial beef herds while being heavily involved in 4-H and exhibiting livestock across the country. Dr. Paine earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University College, where he developed a passion for rural mixed animal medicine and enjoys working with animals of all sizes. During veterinary school, he spent several weeks in Belgium working with dairy farms and Belgian Blue cattle breeders. After graduating, he started out his career at a rural mixed animal clinic in Colorado. His special veterinary interests include preventive medicine, livestock production and small animal surgery.

Dr. Paine recently moved to Missouri and married his wife, Brittany in July 2023 and started at Howard County Veterinary Service shortly after. In his free time, Dr. Paine enjoys kayaking, snowboarding, and exploring new hiking trails with his wife and their Australian Shepherd.

Chara Sumerlin

Veterinary Assistant

Chara grew up around the Kansas City Mo area before coming to Fayette where she has dabbled in many careers before finding her way to the Vet in 2021. She is an aspiring comic book artist and writer. If she isn’t at her home playing with her goats or starting a new art project, she is probably out looking for another adventure.

Laney Thieme

Kennel Assistant

Laney has worked for us for several years. She is a Fayette High School graduate who will be continuing her education at Columbia College in the Fall of 2024. She plans to go to school for pre-vet and then further her education after 4 years. She loves fishing and babysitting in her free time. You might find Laney’s smiling face at the front desk, but she often helps take care of boarding and hospitalized patients in our clinic.

Omer Conrow

Head Large Animal Technician

Omer Conrow has been part of our team for many years. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1998 and started working for our clinic the following Monday. Omer is our expert large animal technician, and he has trained many students coming through the clinic throughout the years. In his free time, he manages his own cow-calf herd, chicken/egg-laying flock, and enjoys coon hunting. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, and five children.

Angela Conrow

Bookkeeper, Manager, and Technician

Angela was born and raised in Fayette, MO. She graduated from Fayette High School in May 2010. Angela has been volunteering/shadowing with us since 2006 and began working for us in 2008. Angela is our head bookkeeper, manager, and technician. Angela lives on a farm outside of Boonesboro with her husband, Glen, and two daughters, Katelynn and Madilynn. Angela enjoys caring for the animals on her farm in her free time, including many beef cattle, horses, dogs and cats.

Abby Draffen

Client Service Representative

Abby was born and raised in Glasgow, MO. She went to Glasgow High School and then went on to college at State Fair Community College in Sedalia with a degree in OTA. She likes being outdoors and going on trips. She also lives with a loving cat and dog!

Aeris Barton

Kennel Assistant

Aeris has worked for us for several years. She started shadowing here at age 14, before working for us once she turned 15. She is currently finishing up her Bachelors in the Science of Nursing (BSN) at Central Methodist University here in Fayette, where she is also a part of their cheer team. After graduating, she wants to work as a nurse with children and is considering continuing her education in the veterinary medical field as a veterinarian. She grew up on a small farm outside of town and has a passion for caring for both animals and humans. She enjoys spending time with her dog, Riley, her family, traveling, and caring for her farm animals.
